FAQ

FAQs

When is the best time to reach out to schedule an estimate?

Moving services are pre-planned and depending on the time of the year, some companies will book out 4-8 weeks in advance. For residential moves, it is best to reach out at least 30-60 days prior to your desired move date. For commercial moves we recommend reaching out 3-6 months in advance.

What types of pricing do you offer?

There are a number of different variables that influence the price of your move. Contrary to popular belief, you are not charged per mile or per pound on local (intrastate) moves (although they are key contributing factors). The core of pricing when moving locally is conducted hourly. For local moves we offer non-binding rates, binding and not to exceed rates, and binding and guaranteed rates. For long distance moves we offer binding and guaranteed rates.

Do you offer packing services?

Yes! Packing services are customizable to fit each and every customer’s specific needs. We sell boxes, packing paper, shrink wrap, tape, tv boxes, wardrobe boxes, and even rent recyclable moving totes. You can purchase boxes from us and pack them yourself or you can contract our team to pack every item in your home.

Do you offer unpacking services?

Unpacking services are indeed available at your request. These services are pre-planned and must be scheduled when booking your move. All items are unpacked, placed onto an open surface such as a counter or tabletop, and all packaging materials will be removed and recycled.

What does “White-Glove” services mean?

White-Glove, or Turn-Key moving services, is our most common package. It includes packing all household contents, moving all household contents to your new location, unpacking all household contents, and the removal of all materials. At your request, we will also handle all contract services. Ask about our “White-Glove” options during your free in-home estimate!

Do you wrap furniture?

All furniture is wrapped and packaged in-home prior to loading. This means that each item will be covered in a furniture pad, the pad is taped on to secure it tightly, and then it is shrink wrapped to make sure that it is fully sealed.

Can I leave items in my drawers?

Yes! All items are wrapped, packaged, and sealed in-home, prior to removal. Small loose items, soft materials, linens, and clothing can all be left inside structurally sound furniture. We do however recommend emptying items that could cause harm to the furniture item or our staff (firearms, weights, chemicals, etc.). We also recommend emptying out antiques or press-wood items that may not be structurally sound or stable.

What items will you not transport?

  • Plants
  • Animals
  • Chemicals
  • Liquids
  • Gasoline
  • Firearms & Ammunition
  • Explosives or Fireworks
  • Propane, Oxygen, or Nitrogen Tanks (empty or filled)
  • Exterior Firewood
  • Soiled or insect-infested items
  • Valuables including cash, jewelry, watches, handbags
  • Important Documents such as deeds, wills, trusts, bonds, etc.
  • Family Heirlooms
  • Prosthetics
  • Urns

How do you protect floors and doorways in my home?

We take all precautionary measures to make sure that we not only protect your furniture, but also your home. On move day, we provide a combination of doorjamb protectors, neoprene floor-runners, hand-rail covers, door covers, and furniture pads to ensure that your home is left in the condition that we found it in.

What type of Storage facility do you have?

We have a climate-controlled storage facility located in North Raleigh. Like most moving companies, we use what is known as a “storage-vault” to store contents for short and long-term periods of time. Storage vaults are 7’x5’x7’ and generally hold about 1000lbs or a standard room of furniture. We bring our storage containers to your home, load directly into these containers and then forklift and stack them in our secured facility. When your contents are ready for delivery, they are forklifted back onto our trucks and delivered directly to your new home and unloaded by our professional moving crews.

Will I have access to my storage vaults?

Storage vaults are forklifted, stacked, and sealed in our facility. If you will need frequent access to your household contents, we recommend renting a self-storage facility. This way you will have your own keys to the facility/units so can come and go as you please.

Do you conduct long-distance or out of state moves?

We are licensed to conduct both intrastate and interstate moves. Intrastate moves are conducted locally in the state of North Carolina, which is regulated by the North Carolina Utilities Commission. Interstate moves, or moves across state lines, is regulated by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
